I have always wondered what the best mascara is for when you have to go for that unexpected swim fun in the summer.
I could never quite trust any mascara, until I found the Lancôme mascaras. In particular, the Lancôme Hypnose Drama Waterproof mascara.
Beware, this is not a mascara that you want to use daily unless you're a professional swimmer or water ballet dancer and what not. This mascara becomes rock hard on the lashes and doesn't budge from sweat, rain, tears, steamy hot baths or swimming pools.
By the end of the day, it takes a lot of wrist power and double phase makeup remover to finally get rid of all the product, which is quite harsh for the delicate eye area and the lashes themselves. It is tempting to roll and twist the lashes between the fingers and the makeup removal pad, but that's not good in the long run, so use this product only on very humid days.
It hasn't been harmful to my eyes themselves, although I do feel a bit of dryness. But no irritation like with the Clinique High Impact mascaras that I used to have.
The application itself is sufficient. The lashes look alright with this mascara, maybe a tiny bit cakey. Also be patient for it to dry or it can snow on the top lid.
A good runner up that also held when I went swimming in the river and withstood a temperature of 42° C this weekend was the Estée Lauder Pure Color Envy Waterproof mascara.
As with any makeup, always blot your foundation, and keep from rubbing the eye area or squeezing your eyes, that also helps to remain fresh looking during hot summer days.
